The 1962 Volkswagen T1 Samba Minibus 1:18 Scale Diecast Model Car by Solido in a beautifully evocative and timelessly charming Green and White two-tone finish is an absolutely exceptional, deeply nostalgic, and genuinely outstanding collector’s piece that celebrates the most luxurious, most elegantly appointed, most visually spectacular, and most passionately collected variant of the legendary Volkswagen Type 1 Transporter family — the extraordinary Samba, a vehicle so unique, so characterful, so historically significant, and so profoundly beautiful in its design and presentation that it has achieved a level of collector desirability, cultural reverence, and emotional resonance that places it in a category entirely its own within the vast and passionate world of vintage Volkswagen collecting and classic vehicle appreciation across the globe. The Volkswagen T1 Samba, produced from the early 1950s through to the mid-1960s, was conceived and positioned from the outset as the premium, de-luxe flagship of the entire T1 Transporter range, designed to serve as a luxury passenger carrier and sightseeing bus for the most discerning customers and the most prestigious transport applications, and it was distinguished from every other variant of the T1 family by a breathtaking collection of features and appointments that made it an object of genuine luxury, exceptional craftsmanship, and extraordinary visual splendour that was entirely without precedent in the world of light commercial vehicle design and has never truly been equalled or surpassed in the more than six decades that have elapsed since its introduction. The Samba’s most immediately and overwhelmingly striking visual feature was its extraordinary glazing arrangement — the famous and iconic wrap-around panoramic windows that ran along the upper section of the body, supplemented by the magnificent skylights set into the roof, creating a greenhouse-like interior bathed in natural light and offering passengers a panoramic view of the passing scenery that was genuinely unrivalled by any other passenger vehicle of the era and gave the Samba an immediately recognisable and uniquely delightful visual identity that remains to this day one of the most charming, distinctive, and beloved automotive designs ever created by any manufacturer in any country at any point in the history of the motor car. Solido, the highly respected and long-established French diecast manufacturer whose heritage, expertise, and consistent commitment to producing detailed, accurate, and beautifully presented scale models has earned them an excellent and well-deserved reputation within the global diecast collecting community, has brought this extraordinary and culturally priceless vehicle to life in magnificent 1:18 scale with a level of craftsmanship, research, and manufacturing precision that does complete and full justice to the unique beauty, historical significance, and immense collector appeal of the T1 Samba, and the choice of a classic and perfectly harmonious Green and White two-tone finish for this particular example is an inspired and entirely authentic colour combination that perfectly captures the cheerful, optimistic, and wonderfully carefree spirit of the early 1960s era in which this vehicle was produced and operated, evoking with immediate and powerful effect the sunshine, freedom, and simple joy of a world that was emerging from the shadow of the post-war years and embracing with open arms the promise of prosperity, leisure, travel, and adventure that the 1960s represented so vividly and so memorably for an entire generation. The Green and White two-tone finish on this Solido model is applied with exceptional precision, care, and visual sensitivity, with the colour separation line between the two tones running cleanly, sharply, and consistently around the body in a manner that perfectly replicates the authentic factory paint division of the original T1 Samba, and the Green tone chosen is a beautifully rich, warm, and period-correct shade that complements the crisp and luminous White of the upper body sections with a visual harmony and sophistication that immediately communicates the premium, de-luxe character of the Samba variant and gives this model a visual presence and display impact that is genuinely stunning and immediately captivating from every angle and distance. The exterior detailing of this Solido T1 Samba model is thoroughly impressive and extraordinarily faithful to the original vehicle, with every one of the Samba’s unique and beloved visual features reproduced with genuine accuracy and loving care, beginning with the extraordinary panoramic window arrangement that is so defining and so utterly distinctive, with each individual window pane carefully and precisely replicated in the correct position and with the correct geometry at 1:18 scale, creating the characteristic and unmistakeable wraparound glazed upper body that floods the Samba’s interior with light and gives it such an open, airy, and joyful visual presence that is unlike anything else in the entire history of automotive design. The famous Samba skylights set into the roof are equally carefully and faithfully reproduced, adding yet another layer of visual authenticity and historical accuracy to an already exceptionally detailed model, and alongside these defining features Solido has reproduced with meticulous care all of the other exterior details that distinguished the Samba from lesser T1 variants, including the characteristic VW emblem and nose panel treatment, the period-correct bumpers and overriders, the door handles and hinges, the exterior mirror, the precise wheel arch profiles, the running board detailing, and the overall body proportions and stance that give the T1 Samba its wonderfully rounded, friendly, and utterly irresistible visual character that has charmed and captivated people of every age, background, and automotive persuasion for more than sixty years without interruption or diminishment. The wheel and tyre assembly on this model accurately and faithfully reflects the period-correct fitment of the original 1962 Volkswagen T1 Samba, with the hub cap design, the pressed steel wheel geometry, and the overall wheel proportions all reproduced with appropriate accuracy and period-correct authenticity at 1:18 scale, while the tyre profiles mirror the narrow, upright, characterfully vintage rubber that was entirely correct and typical for a vehicle of this era and give the model its authentic early 1960s stance and visual character, and the overall wheel and tyre presentation reinforces powerfully and consistently the historical accuracy and period-correct authenticity that Solido has achieved throughout every aspect of this exceptional model. The interior of this T1 Samba model reflects the original vehicle’s famously luxurious and carefully appointed passenger cabin, which featured upholstered seating for a generous complement of passengers, a distinctive dashboard and instrument arrangement, a period-correct steering wheel, and the overall sense of light, space, and airy comfort created by the Samba’s extraordinary glazing arrangement, and Solido has reproduced these interior details with appropriate care and accuracy at 1:18 scale, creating an interior environment that is clearly visible through the model’s extensive glazing and adds meaningfully and substantially to the overall authenticity, display quality, and collector appeal of this exceptional replica. At 1:18 scale, this Volkswagen T1 Samba Minibus model creates a genuinely substantial, visually commanding, and deeply impressive display presence that immediately and powerfully dominates any shelf, cabinet, sideboard, or display surface it occupies, combining the large and characterful T1 body with the extraordinary visual complexity of the Samba’s panoramic glazing arrangement to create a model that rewards extended observation and close inspection in a way that very few diecast models of any subject at any scale can truly match, and whether displayed in a dedicated glass showcase, on collector shelving, on a mantelpiece, in a home office or living room, in a commercial space, café, reception area, or any environment where a genuinely beautiful and culturally resonant piece of automotive history is desired, this model will invariably and immediately attract attention, generate admiration, spark conversation, and bring a smile to the face of every person who encounters it regardless of their age, background, or level of automotive knowledge. The premium diecast construction of this Solido model gives it a solid, satisfying, and substantial weight and build quality that immediately and unambiguously communicates the seriousness, durability, and collector-grade credentials of this exceptional replica, and the overall fit and finish across every aspect of the model — body panels, glazing, wheels, tyres, colour separation, and all exterior detail elements — reflects Solido’s unwavering commitment to producing models that deliver genuine collector quality, visual authenticity, and lasting display satisfaction. Presented in Solido’s collector-grade packaging that protects and presents this wonderful model in a manner entirely appropriate for a premium collectible product, this 1962 Volkswagen T1 Samba Minibus in Green and White is an outstanding and immediately impressive gift for Volkswagen enthusiasts, T1 and Samba collectors, vintage van devotees, classic vehicle fans, retro lifestyle enthusiasts, diecast model collectors, automotive historians, and anyone who feels the deep, immediate, and entirely irresistible emotional connection to the Volkswagen T1 Samba that this most beautiful and beloved of all vintage Volkswagens has inspired so consistently, so powerfully, and so universally in people of all ages and backgrounds across the entire world for more than six remarkable decades.

About brand
Solido is a French manufacturer of toys and miniature vehicles created in 1932 by Ferdinand de Vazeilles. The company has been based in Josselin since 2015.In 1919, Ferdinand de Vazeilles created the Nanterre Precision Foundry. It has become one of the most renowned in Europe for die casting of special materials applied to the automobile and aviation. In the 1930s, it sought to diversify and was contacted to mold an object for use in advertising by the company Gergovia, a French manufacturer of auto parts famous for its spark plugs. The success was immediate and this, now legendary, «Bougie Gerogovia» caused Ferdinand de Vazeilles to have an idea. The French industrialist decided to start producing metal toys and filed a patent for this new activity in 1932. The adventure was launched! Two years later, the Solido brand was registered by de Vazeilles. Its name refers to the strength of the toys offered. This new company will go through the decades and settle in the French industrial landscape.
